Palermo: Alcohol sold after hours, even to minors. Two establishments closed, fines and seizures.

The municipal police of Palermo discovered two establishments selling alcohol beyond the permitted hours, in one case even to minors. As a result, fines of almost 15 thousand euros were imposed. Thirteen thousand alcoholic beverages were seized and the two establishments were closed for five days. This is the result of checks carried out in via Lincoln and via Roma to verify compliance with the rules contained in the new municipal regulation on the so-called nightlife.

In the first shop, the owner was caught selling alcohol outside the allowed hours to numerous customers, all identified. Thus, administrative seizures were made of 2,272 alcoholic and spirituous beverages in glass containers and 2,973 canned alcoholic beverages. Serious and evident hygienic and sanitary deficiencies were also found in the premises.

In the second commercial establishment, it was found that the owner was selling alcoholic beverages for take-out after 10 pm to numerous patrons, including several minors, all identified. The merchant also sold liqueurs for take-out in glass and canned containers after 10 pm, served alcoholic and spirituous beverages at the counter, and sold alcoholic beverages after 12 am. In this case as well, administrative seizures were made of 4,449 alcoholic and spirituous beverages in glass containers and 1,661 canned alcoholic beverages.

For both establishments, in addition to fines, a five-day closure will be imposed.
