San Vito Lo Capo | What to do in Sicily
Nestled between the iconic Monte Monaco promontory and the rocky Piana dell’Egitarso, San Vito Lo Capo is a charming town located in western Sicily. This historic fishing village is one of the main entry points to the stunning Zingaro Nature Reserve, where visitors can enjoy paradisiacal hiking trails and beaches. Nature is undoubtedly one of the area’s main attractions, but the town also boasts human-made structures like the ancient tuna factory, the Moorish chapel, and the romantic Bourbon lighthouse. These sites offer a glimpse into the past and a deep connection between humans and the sea. Another famous attraction of San Vito Lo Capo is its delicious cous cous, which can be enjoyed at a typical restaurant by the sea or during the annual Cous Cous Fest held in September. San Vito Lo Capo offers everything you need for an unforgettable trip or vacation: sun, relaxation, and delicious cuisine.

What to see in San Vito Lo Capo
San Vito Lo Capo is not just a beautiful beach destination, but it also boasts a charming historic center that is a must-visit for tourists. After a day at the beach, take the time to explore the town’s rich history and cultural heritage. Start with one of the town’s most iconic landmarks, the Sanctuary. This majestic fortress-sanctuary was built around the Chapel dedicated to the martyr Saint Vito to protect the faithful from pirate invasions. Today, the Sanctuary houses a museum that features a collection of precious silver, paintings, tapestries, and objects donated by Italian countries connected to the saint. The museum’s terrace offers stunning panoramic views. From the Sanctuary’s square, head to Via Venza, a small street that has become a tourist attraction for its murals and antique fountains that have been transformed into flower pots. At the edge of the town, you can admire the small Santa Crescenzia Chapel in Moorish style, built in the 1200s in honor of San Vito’s nurse. For a romantic walk, reach the 1800s Faro, located on the tip of Capo San Vito, one of the symbols of the town and one of the most important lighthouses in Sicily. The lighthouse tower is 43 meters tall and at night, the light from the lighthouse can be seen up to 20 nautical miles away. Another very picturesque place is the Tonnara del Secco, just 3 km from the center of San Vito Lo Capo. Built in the 1400s and closed in 1956, it retains the charm of tradition and the connection between man and sea. In recent years, it has also become famous as a movie and TV location – for example, some scenes from the TV series “Il Commissario Montalbano” were shot here.
