Nigerian man arrested in Catania for threatening pedestrians with an axe

In Catania, a 31-year-old Nigerian man who was threatening and scaring passersby in Piazza Eroi d’Ungheria with an axe was blocked and arrested by the police following numerous calls to 112. The man became violent, trying to resist the control and putting up a strong resistance. After being immobilized by the police, he was searched and found to be in possession of a fork. Both the axe and fork were confiscated. The man was arrested for resisting a public official and reported for carrying weapons or objects capable of causing harm, as well as for disobeying an order from the Police Chief to leave the national territory. On the prosecutor’s orders, the arrested man was sent to Piazza Lanza prison. (ANSA).
