Mario Biondi hosts a grand party at the Ancient Theater of Taormina with international jazz guests
Mario Biondi announces a grand finale of the summer 2024 with a special event that will take place on September 14th at the Teatro Antico in Taormina. It will be a show celebrating the world of jazz and soul, of which Mario Biondi is one of the leading Italian exponents worldwide, with great guests from the Italian and international jazz scene. The concert is part of the shows promoted by the Fondazione Taormina Arte Sicilia for the international Festival Taormina Arte and is co-organized with Puntoeacapo srl under the artistic direction of Nuccio La Ferlita. With his new single, released on April 18th on digital platforms and radio, Mario Biondi paid homage to Claudio Baglioni with his version of the song that the two artists shared in 2007 on the stage of O’Sciá in Lampedusa. “This version of ‘E tu come stai?’, realized with my first band, the Mario Bros, is now seeing the light but it has already turned 25 years old. The first rehearsal dates back to 1998 and we started playing it live in 1999. In the summers of those years we often played in Lampedusa, Claudio also frequented the island, and it was there that in 2000 I handed him the demo of ‘E tu come stai?’. Then in 2007 we sang it together, in Lampedusa, on the stage of O’Sciá. Also this year, like every year, Claudio wished me a happy Easter, I replied ‘expect a surprise soon!’. I am happy to share with everyone this tribute to an artist so important for Italian music, who has just announced the closure of his extraordinary career this year.”
The demo of “E tu come stai?” was recorded by Mario Biondi in 1998 with the Mario Bros, namely Andrea Satomi Bertorelli, Andrea Celestino, and Davide Drogo, with arrangements by the same Mario Bros under the guidance of Celestino. The song maintains the original instrumental recordings of the time, on which the artist intervened in the studio with the modernization of some sounds during mixing and mastering and re-singing the lyrics.
This anticipates an EP, to be released by Beyond and distributed by The Orchard, in which Mario Biondi reinterprets four great classics of Italian songwriting that will be the last chapter of the project (album released last September), completely in Italian with a repertoire that has made the history of our music.
As for the live shows, in addition to the international dates and the 10 unmissable summer dates in beautiful locations already announced, there will be 10 concerts in theaters covering the entire peninsula between November and December, bringing the project “Crooning Undercover” to the milestone of 100 concerts held in Italy and 22 other countries worldwide between 2023 and 2024, confirming Mario Biondi as one of the most appreciated Italian artists abroad.
