Mafia seizes assets worth over 300k euros from Noto construction entrepreneur

The police in Syracuse have confiscated assets worth over 300 thousand euros from a 46-year-old alleged affiliate of the Trigila-Pinnintula clan, originally from Noto and currently detained. The assets were seized in December 2020 on a joint proposal from the police chief of Syracuse and the prosecutor of Catania.

The confiscation decree of first degree, issued by the Prevention Measures Section of the Catania Court, concerns an Audi Q5, a villa and land on the outskirts of Noto, and 100% of the share capital of a construction company of which the man had effective management. For years, he had been impersonating an entrepreneur in the construction sector.

In July 2018, he was arrested in flagrante delicto by the mobile squad of Syracuse for being found in possession of four guns and related ammunition, approximately 640 grams of cocaine – worth over one hundred thousand euros – and materials for drug packaging. In July 2018, he was also subjected to another precautionary measure as part of the operation called Araba Fenice, conducted against 19 people accused, for various reasons, of mafia-related association for the commission of extortions, arson, aggravated theft, drug trafficking and drug dealing. In particular, the man was charged with the crime of continuous and attempted extortion aggravated by acting using the conditions provided by the mafia method.

Asset investigations had found, among other things, an absolute discrepancy between the income and official revenues attributable to his family compared to the actual property, movable and immovable, and entrepreneurial assets over which he was found to have control.
