Dozens of fires have broken out in the province of Palermo. The most serious situation occurred in Termini Imerese, in the Bragone district, where members of the Santa Marina committee managed to save the ancient church that was at risk of being damaged by the flames. Several hectares of Mediterranean vegetation have been engulfed by the fires, which also reached the railway line causing its closure. Firefighters, forestry officers, and civil protection teams have been busy throughout the afternoon in different areas of the province, from Partinico to Giardinello. The firefighting teams have been working tirelessly to handle the many emergencies of this red alert day. Furthermore, tomorrow will be a repetition of today’s events. Some municipalities, such as Trabia, Cefalù, Lascari, and Campofelice di Roccella, have decided to close schools tomorrow due to the situation.
