Emanuele Schillace dominates the 23rd edition of the Giarre-Milo slalom
The pilot Emanuele Schillace, of the A.S.D. Scuderia Venanzio, on Radical Sr4 Suzuki, with a time of 2’11″52, has won for the second consecutive year the 23rd edition of the Giarre – Milo slalom. Another success for the pilot from Messina in the historic car race, valid for the Trofeo d’Italia Slalom Sud Aci Sport, organized by the Automobile Club Acireale, in synergy with the Asd Scuderia Giarre Corse and with the patronage of the Municipalities of Giarre and Milo. With a four-second gap, the local driver Gabriele Di Bartolo of Scuderia Giarre Corse, who competed on Gloria B5 Suzuki, placed second. Closing the podium is the driver from Catania, Silvio Fiore, of Scuderia Catania Corse, on Radical Sr4. In the top ten of the best pilots are: Antonino Salamone in fourth place, Maurizio Fontana in fifth, Marco Gammeri in sixth, Giuseppe Germano in seventh, Alfonso Belladonna in eighth, Calogero Pinzone Vecchio in ninth, and finally Giuseppe Messina in tenth place. It is worth noting the excellent performance of Alessio Truscello, on Peugeot 106 Rally, who ranks thirteenth ahead of competitors with higher displacement cars. Among the competing teams, Giarre Corse stands out thanks to the placement of Gabriele Di Bartolo, Maurizio Fontana, and Giuseppe Germano.
The race, held for the first time in May as the season opener, saw 74 drivers compete along the nearly 3-kilometer route between Miscarello, a fraction of Giarre, and Milo.
For Giuseppe Trovato, vice president of the Automobile Club of Acireale, this year “a splendid sunny day accompanied this 23rd edition of the Slalom Giarre Milo. It was a beautiful race, ending without any particular incidents. I want to thank as always the municipal administrations of Giarre and Milo, the Prefecture of Catania, the Metropolitan City of Catania, the Pro Loco of Milo, the carabinieri of the Giarre Company, the regional delegation Aci Sport, represented by Daniele Settimo, the president of the slalom sub-commission, Marco Cascino, and all those who supported the race in some way. With this race, we opened a season that, for us at the Automobile Club Acireale, promises to be rich in important events.”
This year too, many motor enthusiasts were able to watch the race safely from home, thanks to the live broadcast on the Naxos ProRacing youtube channel, with commentary by Enzo Amoroso, and on the Giesse produzione Facebook page, with filming and directing by Giuseppe and Salvo Faro. “We witnessed an exciting race,” said Orazio Maccarrone, president of the Scuderia Giarre Corse and co-organizer of the sporting event. “I congratulate Emanuele Schillace for confirming his first place again this year.
