Water crisis in Marsala, Municipality requests reactivation of old wells
The municipal administration of Marsala has requested to reactivate the old wells to counteract the water emergency that has hit the city of Trapani, and not only. Since last February, a municipal ordinance has imposed a containment of consumption on the entire municipal territory of Marsala until the next October 31st, with also a request for regional funds for the replacement of the old water network considered now outdated and favoring water leaks along the pipeline. “We had taken timely appropriate initiatives, with strategic choices that see us at the forefront against drought,” said Mayor Massimo Grillo. Therefore, we hope for interventions in the short, medium, and long terms that take into account climate change and the reduction of withdrawal points. The municipality has submitted a request to the Region to use water from three wells in the Cozzogrande district, with the addition of three denitrification plants to be employed in the same places.
