Paternò: Fans Chase Rival Team with Batons, Three Banned
The police chief of Catania, Giuseppe Bellassai, has issued three bans on access to sports events, known as Daspo (one with restrictions and two in simple form) against three fans of the Paternò team, which plays in the Excellence championship, who took part in a violent action against the visiting Modica team’s fans on November 19 at the Falcone-Borsellino municipal stadium. The three recipients of the measure, including a minor, disguised with balaclavas, reportedly chased the visiting team’s cars on a single moped, brandishing sticks and causing panic among onlookers, who had to request intervention from the carabinieri. After a brief chase through the city streets, the authorities were able to apprehend and identify the three, who were reported to the judicial authority for resisting a public official and carrying offensive objects during a sports event.
