Palermo: New Profile of Giovanni Motisi, Latest Major Fugitive of Cosa Nostra

The State Police released the new identikit of Giovanni Motisi, the latest major fugitive involved in the phase of Cosa Nostra’s terrorist attacks, whose search is ongoing. Using the expertise and advanced technologies of the Scientific Police Service of the State Police, some images of the fugitive from the 80s and late 90s have been “revisited” and updated using the Age progression technique.

This technique involves a progressive facial aging process, starting from the study and updating of specific anthropometric profiles that characterize the fugitive’s family. A prototype with possible variations of Motisi’s current facial features, who is already sentenced to life imprisonment, has been created.

This is another attempt to narrow down the investigation and capture him. Hidden since 1998, Motisi is listed as one of the “most dangerous” fugitives in the “special search program” of the Ministry of the Interior. The new identikit will facilitate the work of the investigators of the Central Operating Service and the Mobile Team of Palermo, but it may also, as the police hopes, encourage citizen cooperation.
