Palermo: Foss in profit but Peria ready to leave
Approval of the budget and discussion on the compatibility of the appointment on the agenda of the next Board of Directors of Foss, which will examine the note from the legal office of the presidency of the Sicilian Region on the position of the superintendent Andrea Peria Giaconia. The lawyer of the Region, Giovanni Bologna, in a note sent in recent days, emphasizes how, based on the regional financial law of 2012, “the obligation for the superintendent and/or the director of regional theatrical and/or artistic entities is to dedicate their energies exclusively for the benefit of the entity to which they belong, excluding the possibility of holding any other position and receiving any other compensation other than that connected to the role of superintendent.”
In the accompanying note to the letter, drafted by the general manager of tourism, Maria Concetta Antinoro, the department notes how “the disbursement of any contribution assigned to the Foundation is suspended” pending a decision. “I take note of the opinion of the Region’s legal department,” explains Andrea Peria, who will resign from his position after the approval of the 2023 budget. “Although I had already conducted checks on possible incompatibilities of the role of Superintendent of Foss and had asked the Corso law firm for a professional opinion on the matter that excluded any incompatibility on my part, I want to prevent any negative consequences for Foss and its workers that would result from the non-receipt of the annual contribution from the Region.”
“We will close the 2023 budget with 11 million euros, which will show a profit and will see a doubling of artistic production from 600 thousand euros to 1.2 million,” he adds, “with subscription and box office data constantly increasing by 35% and significant cost savings.” “My intention is to remain at the helm of the Corecom Sicilia, a regional branch of Agcom, at a time of great work for the protection of fair competition in view of the upcoming European and municipal elections in Sicily,” Peria concludes.
