Palermo airport closed due to bad weather, activities halted by flooding.

Following heavy rains, Palermo’s Falcone Borsellino airport has stopped its activity due to flooding in some areas of the terminal, particularly in the baggage area. There have also been power outages that have prevented normal arrival and departure operations.

The Pet (terminal emergency plan) was immediately activated and passengers were directed outside the structure, as there are expected to be long delays in restoring the facilities. Currently, several flights have been diverted to other Sicilian airports. This information comes from Gesap, the company that manages the airport.

Seven flights have been diverted from Falcone Borsellino airport due to the storm that caused flooding in the passenger terminal and baggage area. The Ryanair flights from Berlin and Paris were diverted to Lamezia Terme, the Swiss flight from Zurich and the Easy Jet flight from Geneva were diverted to Catania, and the Ryanair flight from Turin and Dat flight from Lampedusa were diverted to Trapani.
