Mafia boss Messina Denaro’s case closed, ‘offender’s death’ determined
Today, the trial against Mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro came to a close at the Marsala Court, following his death on September 25th. A death certificate issued by the city of L’Aquila was presented by his lawyer, Luca Bonanno. Messina Denaro was charged based on two investigations into Mafia families in Trapani and Agrigento. He was accused of giving directives and being the influential figure in managing illegal activities for Cosa Nostra in various parts of Sicily. Several civil parties were admitted to the trial.
