Lampedusa rescues four more boats with 208 migrants aboard

Four boats, carrying a total of 208 migrants, were rescued by coast guard and finance guard patrol boats off the coast of Lampedusa. On board were respectively 60 (1 minor), 37 (2 women and 2 minors), 40, and 71 Bangladeshis, Libyans, Egyptians, Eritreans, and Syrians. The four groups reported that they had departed from Zuara in Libya and had paid between $3,500 and $5,000. Today, the total number of arrivals on the largest of the Pelagian Islands has reached 8, with a total of 433 people.
