Fire rekindles in Santa Croce Camerina: greenhouses threatened, Canadair in action

The fire in the demesne area of contrada Randello, in Santa Croce Camerina, resumed in the afternoon. Due to the wind blowing in the area, the embers regained strength and rekindled the flames in the pine forest area, a demesne reserve managed by the Forestry Department. Firefighters, personnel from the Demesne Company, and Civil Protection volunteers are currently operating in the area. Due to the inaccessibility of some areas of the pine forest, which overlooks the sea, the intervention of Canadair Can 07 and Can 27, from the national aerial fleet of firefighters, coordinated by a Forestry Dos Unit (Director of extinguishing operations), was necessary. The fire is also spreading to agricultural areas and firefighters are working to try to safeguard the crops and private homes in the area.
