Femicide in Piemonte: Sicilian couple, arrived the day before from Agrigento
Giovanni Salamone, 63 years old, originally from the province of Agrigento, called the police confessing to killing his wife, Patrizia Russo, also from Sicily, 53 years old. The tragic incident, another case of femicide, took place in Solero, a small town in the province of Alessandria where the couple had been living for about a year. The woman was stabbed in the bedroom of the apartment they were renting. There had never been any reports or complaints that could have anticipated the event. Patrizia, who taught support in the middle school Lucio Ferraris, had returned with her husband the night before from Sicily, where they had gone for the olive harvest.
By the time the rescue arrived, the woman was already dead. The crime took place on via Cavoli, on the first floor of a small pink house. The community of Solero, usually quiet, is in shock. Andrea Toniato, the mayor of the town, explained that the couple had arrived from Sicily about a year ago. Even the neighbors, who had some contact with the couple, were surprised and incredulous at what had happened.
The woman, cheerful and very religious, was loved by her students and regularly attended Sunday Mass, along with her husband, who was described as reserved. The investigation is entrusted to the carabinieri of the provincial command of Alessandria, under the direction of the magistrate Andrea Trucano.
