Drug trafficking: Palermo man arrested in Spain after a year-long investigation
A 53-year-old man from Palermo, residing in Cupramontana (Ancona), has been arrested in Spain after being on the run for over a year for drug trafficking. He used fake identification documents to evade police, but was eventually caught in Figueres, Catalonia. The arrest was made on a warrant issued by the Prosecutor’s Office in Perugia, and the man will now serve over eight years in prison. The complex investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Italian and Spanish authorities. The man is awaiting extradition to Italy to face charges for trafficking about two kilograms of cocaine from Germany to Italy, primarily distributing it in the Marche region. These incidents mainly occurred in 2015.
