Dane tourists rescued by police after getting stuck in mud

Explain in brief the following article:

Yesterday (May 9, 2023), the carabinieri of the Lercara Friddi company were involved in rescue operations for two Danish spouses who had come to Sicily for tourism and had been stranded due to bad weather and prohibitive weather conditions in the countryside of Castronovo di Sicilia.

In particular, the two, in their own car, were trying to reach an accommodation facility in the area and, to orient themselves, they had relied on navigation directions on their cell phone, which led them to an unpaved country road where, after several kilometers, they got stuck.

The military, after establishing contact with the unfortunate individuals, following the references provided by them and using their knowledge of the area, were able to locate them after several hours.

Once located, the rescuers immediately offered assistance, requesting the intervention of the civil protection and the local police of Castronovo di Sicilia, while coordinating the hectic stages of the rescue, made particularly difficult by the rain and mud.

The two tourists were then taken to the barracks and from there they safely reached the hotel where they would be staying.
