Corleone opens a room for reports from female victims of violence

A protected hearing room for women has been inaugurated at the headquarters of the Carabinieri in Corleone as part of the “A Room of One’s Own” Project. The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Luciano Magrini, provincial commander of the Carabinieri in Palermo, Nicolò Nicolosi, mayor of Corleone, Ada Florena, program director of Soroptimist International, and representatives of other police forces.

Brigadier General Magrini highlighted the importance of the initiative in promoting a culture of legality, especially considering the valuable testimony of students from local schools in attendance.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the room was followed by a moment of prayer led by the military chaplain, Father Salvatore Falzone, who blessed all the participants and a delegation from the national Carabinieri association.

The “A Room of One’s Own” project, established between the Carabinieri and Soroptimist International Italy, has led to the creation of numerous hearing rooms in barracks across the country to support women during the sensitive moment of reporting violence and abuse. Apart from the provincial command headquarters in Palermo, these rooms can be found at the Palermo-Oreto, Monreale, Cefalù, and Termini Imerese stations.
