Car fire in Carlentini ends in tragedy: driver dies in charred vehicle
A retired man, S.N., died in a car fire after parking his Land Rover in piazza Diaz in Carlentini. The fire broke out shortly after 8 am as the man left his car to go to a bar for coffee. Upon returning to his vehicle, a loud bang was heard followed by the fire. Despite attempts to extinguish the fire with fire extinguishers by a municipal police officer before the firefighters arrived, the man was unable to escape the car. Firefighters, police, and ambulance personnel from the 118 emergency service all responded to the scene.
