Buccheri: discovery of a stolen car graveyard

The Carabinieri station of Buccheri reported a 69-year-old criminal suspect to the judicial authorities in Syracuse for alleged involvement in receiving stolen goods. On a plot of land owned by the man, the military found 6 cars, all reported as stolen in the days before, which had been “cannibalized” to presumably sell the spare parts on the black market. The stripped-down carcasses were set on fire and investigations on what remained of the vehicles, all utility cars, allowed authorities to identify the owners. The area has been seized and the Carabinieri continue their investigations to determine further responsibilities.
