Brundibár performed by children at the Politeama theater

The article explains that the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra Foundation is once again opening its doors to children, teenagers, and families with a production of “Brundibár”, an opera for children performed by children. The opera’s genesis and first performance are closely linked to the Holocaust and the triumph of good over evil. In a time where bullying, discrimination, and intolerance are increasingly prevalent, the opera aims to emphasize that solidarity and peace should be the main objectives for future generations in order to preserve the essence of humanity. “Brundibár” will be staged at the Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo on Sunday, April 21 at 6 pm, with two performances on Monday, April 22 dedicated to schools. The opera, composed in 1938/1943, carries a message that “unity is strength” and serves as a lesson for new generations to react in a healthy way to abuses and injustices through solidarity. The performers of “Brundibár” are the children of the white voice choir of the Foundation, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble of the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra and the voice of Luisa Hoffmann. Riccardo Scilipoti conducts the ensemble and the white voice choir, with Claudia Puglisi directing the production.
