An elderly man in Canicattì was defrauded of 700,000 euros, the prosecutor requests two trials postponed

The Prosecutor’s Office of Agrigento has requested the trial of Giuseppina Giardina, 45 years old, and Angelo Di Gloria, 65 years old, both from Canicattì (Ag), with the charge of aggravated extortion. According to the accusation, the two of them threatened a seventy-five-year-old man with physical violence, confinement in a psychiatric ward, and even death if he did not comply with their demands for money. Over the course of several months, the elderly man allegedly gave them properties, businesses, and emptied his bank account of over 700,000 euros. The victim reported the incidents to the police and will be appearing as a civil party in the preliminary hearing, which will take place on October 17th before Judge Stefano Zammuto.
