All Palermo children will attend the Danisinni nursery school

The administrative boundary line between the fourth and fifth districts in Palermo will not prevent about twenty children from attending the nursery school in Danisinni, which will be reopened, after 17 years, next September. On January 29, the Municipality of Palermo had opened the registration campaign for the educational year 2024/2025.

There are 50 places available in the newly renovated building with 3 million funds from the Po-Fesr 2014-2020. However, to the surprise of many, about twenty children have been excluded. Their families, despite living just a few meters from the new nursery, cannot enroll their children because their residence falls outside the district of the nursery, the fourth. The boundaries between the two districts divide Danisinni in half.

“We will overcome this computer glitch by modifying the platform that allows registration,” assured Mayor Roberto Lagalla at a debate on the “Via dei librai” that yesterday (April 26) saw the participation of Fr. Mauro Billetta, parish priest of the Church of Sant’Agnese and president of the Danisinni Community Association, Fr. Cosimo Scordato, rector of San Giovanni Decollato, and moderated by journalist Elvira Terranova. “We will also intervene on the nursery garden to make it accessible to children as soon as possible,” added the mayor.
