President Mattarella in Piana degli Albanesi: “Italy supports Tirana’s accession to the EU”
The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella met the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj in Piana degli Albanesi, in the province of Palermo. The program, in four stages, unfolded between Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Giorgio Kastriota in front of the Cathedral of San Demetrio, the Seminary theater at Piazza San Nicolò, and Portella della Ginestra. Mattarella expressed gratitude for the hospitality and collaboration between Albania and Italy, reaffirming Italy’s support for Albania’s entry into the European Union. He also praised the Arbëreshë communities in Italy for preserving their cultural heritage for over 500 years. Mattarella highlighted the strong bond between the two peoples and their shared European perspective.
