Palermo attends Asp’s open day and doctors admit him to Ingrassia emergency room.

It was the last user to enter the cardiovascular prevention clinic at the Open Day organized in Piazza Nascè by the Palermo Health Authority and the State Police: doctors and nurses found blood pressure levels so high that they planned the patient’s access to the emergency room of Ingrassia hospital where he was admitted and stabilized. “Joining the initiative – said the director of the cardiology unit at Ingrassia, Sergio Fasullo – allowed the patient to discover values that required timely intervention with targeted therapies in our hospital facility.” Many citizens took advantage of the Open day opportunity to participate in screening programs. After 6 hours of activity, a total of 463 services were provided, mainly to citizens of Borgo Vecchio. Also present in Piazza Nascè were the Health Director of the Health Authority, Antonino Levita, the director of the 42nd health district of Palermo, Giuseppe Termini, and the head of the Health Office of the Police Headquarters of Palermo, Pietro Fabio Bonura, who emphasized “how the initiative has aroused great interest among people who appreciate the itinerant prevention model organized in the city’s gathering places”. On board the dedicated camper and mobile clinics set up by the Health Authority and the State Police, doctors and nurses carried out 70 vaccinations, 106 cardiovascular prevention services, 57 screenings for sexually transmitted infectious diseases (hepatitis C, syphilis, and HIV), 33 HPV Tests and Pap Tests for cervical cancer screening, distributed 31 Sof Tests for the detection of occult blood in feces for colon rectal cancer screening, and performed 63 abdominal ultrasounds. In the pediatric area, there were 58 visits for speech and vision screenings (for children aged 3 to 8), while the Health Authority’s administrative office provided services such as changing doctors, issuing health cards, and exempting from co-payments.
