Architect from Modica dies in a tragic accident on holiday in Lapland
An architect, 36, from Modica died in a car accident in northern Finland while on vacation with friends in Lapland. His name was Giovanni Basile, and he had been working in London for some time but still had strong ties to Sicily. He frequently returned to Ragusa province to spend time with his family, and many people in Modica knew him. The news deeply shocked the community. According to initial reports, Basile lost his life in a head-on collision between a van driven by a woman and the car he was in with two friends. The heavy vehicle suddenly veered off the road, resulting in an unavoidable impact with Basile’s car. The crash resulted in three fatalities: the woman driving the van, Basile’s friend, and Basile himself. The woman who was also in the car with them is in serious condition.
