40-year-old man under house arrest for aggression in Cianciana: motive still a mystery
A 40-year-old man who yesterday attacked a 26-year-old worker in Cianciana, seriously injuring him with a knife, has been placed under house arrest. He is accused of aggravated personal injury and carrying weapons or objects capable of causing harm.
The young man was assaulted on Martiri Street in Cianciana. The man first beat him and then stabbed him. Eventually, he fled leaving behind no traces. The victim was rescued and airlifted to Sant’Elia Hospital in Caltanissetta, where on-duty doctors diagnosed him with a head injury and cuts on one leg.
The Carabinieri of the Cammarata Company also arrived at the scene of the attack and initiated investigations, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. After the on-site inspection, the military were able to identify and locate the alleged attacker. House arrest has now been imposed.
The reasons for the attack are not yet known, but according to initial information, the two men had known each other for some time.
