26 arrested as drug strongholds in Sperone and Brancaccio, Palermo, uncovered by undercover agents.
In Palermo, the agents of the mobile squad and the SCO executed a preventive custody order issued by the judge against 26 suspects. Twenty-one of them ended up in prison, while the others are under house arrest. They are accused, in various capacities, of being part of an association aimed at drug trafficking aggravated by mafia methods and drug dealing. The investigation, coordinated by the district anti-mafia directorate headed by prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia, allowed to strike a blow to drug trafficking in the Sperone and Brancaccio neighborhoods. To access the drug dens, undercover agents were deployed, who managed to establish contacts with the leaders of the criminal group in charge of drug dealing. The investigation also revealed the interests of the Mafia in the distribution of profits from illegal activities. During the investigation, it was documented that drug trafficking was taking place 24 hours a day, with a strict organization of pusher and lookout shifts. During the operation, the crime prevention unit, canine units, and the aviation unit were deployed. Numerous searches were carried out in the Sperone neighborhood.
