Wildfire devastates protected area of contrada Randello in Santa Croce Camerina

An fire ravaged yesterday evening, April 17, the protected area of Contrada Randello, on the coast of Ragusa, near Punta Braccetto, a maritime fraction of Santa Croce Camerina. It is a wooded area, with a equipped area, that is part of the State Property and is managed by the Forestry Department. The area where the fire broke out is towards Scoglitti, towards Branco Piccolo and Passo Marinaro. The fire was fueled by strong winds. To reach some areas, it was necessary to intervene with Canadair aircraft. This morning, the last embers were extinguished, but the area is still being monitored by the firefighters also due to the wind that could favor further outbreaks.
