Vandals damage cars over weekend in Palermo’s Libertà district

In Palermo, there is a hunt in the city for car vandals. In recent days, about twenty citizens living in different streets have reported incidents of vandalism to the police station on Generale Arimondi street. The vandals have been puncturing the front tires, scratching the doors with a nail, and spreading cat food on the windshields of the cars. This has caused significant damage to the vehicles, with one tire costing up to 200 euros to replace. The residents of the Libertà neighborhood are angry and dismayed by these incidents, and fear waking up to find their cars damaged. Surveillance cameras at nearby shops may provide valuable information to help identify the culprit. The article also mentions a gommista (tire repair shop) on Salinas street that has been working overtime to repair the punctured tires. It is unlikely that the vandalism is being carried out by a vigilante enforcing traffic laws, as most of the affected cars were parked legally. The gommista describes finding multiple cars with punctured tires on Monday morning, all on the same side and unrepairable. Customers have had to replace multiple tires as a result.
