Truck driver’s fatal accident in Modica, young driver sentenced to two years

The young driver involved in the accident that caused the death of Daniele Caschetto, a truck driver from Modica, has been sentenced to two years for vehicular manslaughter, with a suspended sentence. The tragedy occurred on December 23, 2021 on the Modica-Pozzallo state road, when the 23-year-old reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic driving a Fiat Doblò, colliding with the 43-year-old truck driver, who was married and the father of two. The young man was convicted with the mitigating factor that the event was not solely the result of his actions, leading to a reduced sentence. He also reached a plea agreement, leading to a reduced sentence, but was also ordered to pay the costs of the seized property and had his driver’s license revoked. The victims were represented by lawyer Alfredo Vinciguerra and Studio 3A.
