Trapani-Birgi airport to have a railway station in 2026: project approved by Schifani government

The Schifani government has approved a feasibility project for a new connection between Trapani-Birgi airport and the railway network. The project includes the construction of a new stop between the Marausa and Mozia-Birgi stations, as well as road and pedestrian infrastructure to reach the airport and an interchange parking lot. The project also includes the installation of a photovoltaic system to minimize the energy impact of the new infrastructure. The goal is to improve connections with Sicilian airports and accommodate the increasing number of travelers. The total funding available is around 48 million euros, with a two-year expected duration for the project. This project falls under the government’s priority of enhancing transportation links with Sicilian airports.
