Tragedy on Messina-Palermo highway: Truck overturns, driver dies, A20 closed

Another tragedy on the A20 Messina-Palermo highway. A truck overturned between the Sant’Agata di Militello and Rocca di Capri Leone exits, just outside the tunnel on the Rosmarino viaduct. The driver of the vehicle, which was transporting plants, lost his life. Police officers and firefighters are on the scene, with paramedics trying to revive the victim but unfortunately to no avail.

The heavy vehicle overturned in the middle of the road, with many plants scattered on the street, and this is why the A20 highway is currently closed in the direction of Palermo. For those heading towards the Sicilian capital, the mandatory exit is Rocca di Caprileone, with re-entry at Sant’Agata di Militello after the stretch on the state road 113.
