Traffic blocked for hours after accident between two trucks and maintenance work on the Palermo-Mazara highway

An accident and some maintenance work have caused traffic chaos on the Palermo-Mazara del Vallo highway, heading towards Trapani. Two heavy vehicles were involved in a collision just before the Tommaso Natale exit, requiring the intervention of Anas workers and highway police. Long queues formed following the accident, with drivers stuck in traffic from the Via Belgio roundabout. Traffic was delayed for over an hour and a half until the vehicles were removed from the road. No injuries were reported, but investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. However, traffic was still disrupted as maintenance work began shortly after between the Capaci-Isola delle Femmine exit and the Carini exit, causing further delays. Just a few days ago, another accident within the tunnel between Isola delle Femmine and Capaci caused extensive traffic jams, with drivers stuck for over three hours before being able to continue their journey.
