Toni Carollo, son of slain Resuttana boss Gaetano, arrested in Milan

Antonino Carollo, a prominent figure in the Milanese investigation Duomo Connection, is among the four recipients of a precautionary measure ordered in the context of the investigation by the Milanese Prosecutor’s Office for bankruptcy, tax offenses, and money laundering, which led to arrests and the seizure of assets worth 4 million euros. For Carollo, of Palermo origins, a former affiliate of Cosa Nostra, and for a lawyer from Abbiategrasso, the investigating judge Mattia Fiorentini signed a detention order in prison, while two other individuals were placed under house arrest. The investigation, conducted by the finance police of Magenta on behalf of the prosecutors Bruna Albertini and Simona Ferraiuolo, uncovered a complex fraudulent scheme planned and directed by the lawyer, Giovanni Bosco, with the help of professionals and collaborators such as Carollo, involving individuals as figureheads of companies – some operating in the construction-real estate sector. The purpose of the mechanism devised, it is hypothesized, was to evade taxes, circumvent creditors, and facilitate the laundering of illegally obtained money. The 22 suspects are charged with various offenses including fraudulent bankruptcy, improper offsetting of tax credits for over 2.5 million euros, fraudulent evasion of tax payments, money laundering, self-laundering, and fraudulent transfer of assets. Within the scope of the investigation, 20 searches were carried out in the provinces of Milan, Pavia, Pisa, Varese, Treviso, Livorno, and Catanzaro, with the use of over 70 police officers and cash detection dogs. Carollo, a key figure in the Duomo Connection investigation, coordinated by Ilda Boccassini and Giovanni Falcone and conducted between 1989 and 1990 by the Carabinieri led by Sergio De Caprio, was sentenced to 24 years in prison. The case had revealed mafia infiltrations in Milan. The surveyor Antonino Carollo, known as Toni, was considered the leader of a large group of Sicilian criminals arrested in the investigation. At that time with no criminal record, he is the son of Gaetano Carollo, a member of the mafia family of Resuttana, killed in 1987 in Liscate, in the province of Milan.
