Three thefts in one night between Falcone and Oliveri: three men from Catania caught and arrested thanks to surveillance footage.
Three citizens of Catania, two men and a woman, were arrested this morning (April 26) by the carabinieri following investigations into three thefts committed in one night between Falcone and Oliveri, in the province of Messina: one at a primary school in Falcone and the other two in Oliveri, in a former middle school now used by a scout group and in a boat shed containing windsurfing equipment.
The three individuals were placed under house arrest with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet, following a precautionary measure issued by the judge of Patti, Eugenio Aliquò, at the request of the local Prosecutor’s Office, led by Angelo Vittorio Cavalli.
The restrictive measure is based on investigations by the carabinieri of Falcone, initiated after reports of thefts committed on the night between October 4 and 5, 2023. The military police investigations, based also on the analysis of footage extracted from surveillance systems, allowed them to identify the alleged perpetrators and locate an apartment in Tonnarella di Furnari, used by the thieves as a base of operations. In the house, the carabinieri found and seized a significant amount of stolen goods, later returned to their rightful owners.
According to the carabinieri reconstruction, the three criminals, on the night between October 4 and 5, 2023, in a car, first reached the school in Falcone and, after climbing over the entrance gate and taking advantage of an inadvertently open window, they entered and subsequently stole six notebooks for educational use. On the same night, still in the same vehicle, they reached the former middle school used by a scout group in the nearby town of Oliveri and, after forcing the entrance door, they entered and stole a toolbox. Finally, in Oliveri, the three reached a boat shed containing windsurfing equipment and, after breaking the locks of the storage room, they stole a lot of equipment, tools, and outboard motors, with a significant economic value.
