With the arrival of the warm season, the sea once again offers the spectacle of nature. The latest close encounter occurred with two sperm whales off the coast of Vulcano. Despite the approaching boat, they celebrated. “The event” was immortalized by Monica Blasi, a Roman biologist and president of the association Filicudiconservation. The most beautiful image is that of her dog Paciko who seems ecstatic from the boat.

“The sea – Monica Blasi says – wanted to give us this magnificent encounter with two adult sperm whales, probably males, off the Aeolian Islands. We are already analyzing the photo identification data to understand if they are individuals already present in our photo identification catalog which includes about 60 cataloged animals or if it is the first time they pass by the Aeolian Islands. With our summer research camps and volunteer work in Filicudi, you can learn more about the ecology and biology of these wonderful animals and observe them in nature.”
