Students in Palermo protest banning food and drinks in schools.

Protests continue in various schools in Palermo. This morning, students at the Pio La Torre Institute interrupted classes to hold an extraordinary assembly. Inside the school, the bar service has been removed and there are no food and water vending machines. Students have been expressing their discontent to the school principal for months but have received no response. During break time, they are unable to get food or drinks and are simply asking for the bar to be restored or vending machines to be installed. Similar protests are occurring at the Almeyda Artistic High School in Palermo and the Basile-D’Aleo High School in Monreale, where students have refused to enter the school both yesterday and today. The reasons for the protests are the same: the prohibition to leave the premises for lunch and recreation, and the absence of food vending machines.
