Stop Tar from the Porto Empedocle gas pipeline: it’s unnecessary.

The Sicilian Administrative Court (TAR) has ended the construction of the gas pipeline in Porto Empedocle, stating that the declaration of public utility has become ineffective. The request for an extension of the landscape authorization was rejected on September 7th. The TAR’s decision came after the appeal filed in 2016 by the city of Agrigento, which opposed the construction of the gas pipeline and the Sicilian methane network. Many objections were raised against the project, including concerns about the landscape, hydrogeological, archaeological, and historical constraints.
