Smoke rings from Mount Etna, INGV volcanologist: ‘An extraordinary phenomenon’
An extraordinary phenomenon of steam rings is currently happening on Mount Etna, being photographed and filmed by locals and tourists from around the world. The vulcanologist Boris Behncke explains that no volcano on Earth produces as many steam rings as Mount Etna, with the recent activity breaking previous records. Despite the impressive display, there is no sign of an imminent large eruption. Mount Etna, also known as “The Lady of the Rings”, is simply putting on a spectacular show to be admired and captured.
