Siracusa: Youngster who shot peer in the knee arrested, he is without criminal record

The investigation by the Syracuse Mobile Unit investigators has narrowed down the circle around the young man who shot his peer near Riva Nazario Sauro in Ortigia. The arrested individual is a 22-year-old resident of Syracuse with no criminal record. He approached his target, who was standing in front of a fish market, in a van and shot him in the left knee. The injured person was taken to the emergency room and later discharged with a 20-day prognosis. Surveillance footage and investigative sources have helped reconstruct the sequence of events. The motive is still under investigation. The police also seized a modified replica of a Beretta 92 caliber 9 firearm, along with some cartridges, a shell, a bullet, and traces of blood at the scene.
