Sicily seeks doctors abroad to address local shortages
The Sicilian Region is ready to recruit foreign doctors to address the staff shortages in the regional health system. The regional health department has published a public notice open to doctors from both EU and non-EU countries. The goal is to ensure healthcare for all Sicilians, and the region is using extraordinary tools made available by the state to fill the gaps in staff. The need for personnel amounts to 1,494 units, with shortages in various medical specialties across different regions of Sicily. The doctors will be hired after an interview and evaluation of their qualifications. This extraordinary measure aims to reduce costly outsourcing in the healthcare sector.
