The meeting between imprisoned mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro and his newly appointed lawyer, Alessandro Cerella, lasted just over an hour. Cerella, who joins lawyer Lorenza Guttadauro, will be responsible for overseeing Denaro’s rights and needs as a prisoner in the high-security prison in L’Aquila. The two lawyers are in daily contact to handle various requests on behalf of Denaro. A room has been set up near Denaro’s cell in the prison, where he is undergoing chemotherapy after being arrested in Palermo. His health is deemed important, as evidenced by the numerous visits to the hospital in L’Aquila, each heavily guarded.
