Sammartino resigns after Tremestieri Etneo investigation: “I am calm”

“I wrote a note to the president of the Region, Renato Schifani, to resign from the position of regional councilor and vice president of the Region after being subjected to a precautionary measure in relation to a hypothesis of a crime that occurred a long time ago. I thank the president for the trust shown towards me and for the work done so far. I want to emphasize that I am not involved in mafia or vote buying crimes; I am calm and confident that my total innocence in the events that date back to 5 years ago, which I read with astonishment, will emerge”. This was stated by Luca Sammartino, under investigation for corruption.

Sammartino adds: “I remain confident, as I have always declared and will never change my mind, in the work of the judiciary. I will continue to serve my community and my territory, carrying out my political and regional parliamentary activities”.
