Prefect Mariani attends Monreale mafia fight conference

An assembly meeting was held at the Sala Rossa of the Municipality of Monreale to discuss and share the activities of the Consortium. The meeting, chaired by Mayor Alberto Arcidiacono, was attended by all the mayors of the nine municipalities belonging to the Consortium engaged in the social reuse of assets confiscated from organized crime, and also saw the participation of the Prefect of Palermo, Massimo Mariani.

The meeting was opened by President Arcidiacono who, after thanking Prefect Mariani for his institutional sensitivity and attention, presented to the mayors the next steps to be taken and highlighted the need to expand the mission of the Consortium by collaborating with educational, academic, and productive institutions of the third sector.

The Prefect greeted all the mayors present and emphasized how, since his appointment in Palermo, he has shown particular attention to the life and activities of the Consortium, a model of good practices in the management of confiscated assets over the years. He stressed the need to revitalize the Consortium’s activities, given the changed regulatory framework and the different socio-economic context, urging the mayors to contribute their ideas and collaboration to restart the recovery and reuse of confiscated assets as an opportunity for development perceived by the communities.

After the debate, the assembly agreed to charge the Board of Directors, chaired by Alessandro Cavalli, with the drafting of a timeline of activities to be carried out in the short and medium term. The president of the Board of Directors, Alessandro Cavalli, shared the results of the discussion and stressed the need to define a strategic planning to achieve what was discussed during the meeting.
