Pozzallo: Mayor orders evacuation of 40 at-risk public housing units
The mayor of Pozzallo in the province of Ragusa, Roberto Ammatuna, has issued an evacuation order for Iacp apartments, at risk of collapse, where 40 families live. The measure was taken after inspections carried out by the technical office, the civil engineering department, and the autonomous institute of public housing. “The evacuation – as stated in a statement from the Prefecture – is necessary to protect the safety and physical integrity of the residents. It has been decided to carry out a survey of public and private structures in the surrounding area to ensure housing for the families who will have to leave the now uninhabitable houses.” The evacuation – as learned – should take place within ten days. The issue of the structural stability of the buildings had already been raised in 2019.
