The protagonist of the misadventure was a 20-year-old Polish tourist who was assisted and transported by an ambulance to a hospital in Palermo. The young woman, on vacation in the city, was sitting with her boyfriend on a bench in Piazza Olivella when the incident occurred. The alarm was raised by the owners of a nearby restaurant: the device probably exploded in the girl’s face due to a battery short circuit.
