Palermo’s Control Room: Monitoring Adverse Weather Conditions

The recently inaugurated Control room by the Municipality of Palermo allows the monitoring of all areas in the city that could be affected by adverse weather conditions. The deputy mayor of Palermo, Carolina Varchi, mentioned this during a TV program, highlighting potential issues such as underground flooding and problems in areas near the surrounding hills. The Civil Protection and local control center are constantly alert with a focus on weather forecasts. The Control room, equipped with 800 cameras, will be fully operational in January and will also assist in security, public order, and traffic control. It is located at the headquarters of the municipal police.
