The coast guard has seized a jet ski in the sea of Sferracavallo. The watercraft with two people on board was blocked by the patrol boat while speeding among bathers about thirty meters from the shore. After a long chase, one of the two managed to escape while the other was stopped and checked by the military.

It was found that the driver did not have a boat license and the watercraft was not insured, in violation of the current recreational boating code, as well as navigating within the zone of 500 meters from the shore prohibited to jet skis as ordered by the beach safety ordinance. A fine of 5,000 euros was imposed and the watercraft was seized. Another patrol boat in Vergine Maria stopped a boat fishing with nets. The net, one thousand meters long, was seized and the boater was fined one thousand euros.
